What's the point of praying? [Spirituality & Religion]

For those of you who are religious...Religious views depict God as all-knowing, so what difference does it make if you pray? Wouldn't he already know what's going on?

This post isn't meant to bash religious people (my whole family is religious) , so I'm not looking for negative replies. Just wondering about the mindset behind this. This is something they didn't ever really seem to explain lol

Our relationship with God is based on our Faith and the gift of the Holy Spirit that indwells anyone that is saved by Jesus.
Our prayer is a very important part of our relationship just as any communication would be for any relationship. When we pray to God we acknowledge the source that we look to and don’t pass it off to chance but the very real presence of our God.

@Pfuzylogic That makes sense. I grew up thinking it was basically just asking for stuff and didn't really understand it lol. Thanks

I normally start off prayer with thankfulness. You can ask for things but it isn’t like God is Santa Claus. God is Holy above all things. Jesus taught “The Lord’s Prayer” in
Matthew 6: 9-13

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

@Pfuzylogic Oh yeah, I've heard that before. Except for some reason we said "and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us". But it was really similar. The rest was the same

I was taught the same way you are. Anyone that sins against you is a transgressor or debtor.
The idea is that Jesus laid down his life to redeem us from an unpayable debt and so once having that debt taken away we shouldn’t impose others to pay us back.
