You don't have to be perfect, in order for Jesus to forgive you. [Spirituality & Religion]

You don't have to "try" and be good, or even reach a certain level of "goodness" before you come to Jesus for salvation, or before He will forgive you. You don't have to be perfect, in order for Jesus to forgive you. He already wants, and loves you. Transformation, meaning to be given a new mind and nature, comes AFTER you have come to Jesus, asking to be forgiven.  After you have have received God's forgiveness, you are then given the Holy Spirit and the new characteristics of God, because He now LIVES in you, and His Holy Spirit makes YOUR SPIRIT come alive!!! Brand new!! You are a new creation in Christ! God now sees you as RIGHTEOUNESS!! WHY? BECAUSE jesus washed every one of your sins away. Not because of anything YOU did.

Roman's 8:1 - "There is, therefore, now NO CONDEMNATION to them which are in Christ Jesus, who (choose to) walk not after the flesh (our old sinful, selfish ways), but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The reason I am a Christian is because I am highly imperfect and need forgiveness

Yes but there is George Whitfield once said even my greatest prayer needs repenting of because it falls short of the glory of God@LadyGrace
@Speedyman What he said sounds nice and humble, but I wonder if he understands the real meaning of Grace and Mercy. We don't have to beg God or feel guilty all time. There's another phrase. My grace is sufficient for you. He doesn't hold grudges or keep track of wrongs. I'm thankful we don't have to be perfect or keep ourselves saved by good works. We'd never make it. He did it all.

I quite agree. But my every action on this earth falls short of the glory of God which is why I need the grace of God and the righteousness of Christ every day@LadyGrace
