Why finding our own way, won't work, when it comes to salvation. [Spirituality & Religion]
Jesus didn't say, "Spend your life trying to figure it out." The answers to life are in God's Word.
He also didn't say, "Find your own way to heaven." He knows we can't, as our sins separate us from God:
Romans 3:23 - "For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
What that means, is that God's standards are perfect. That's why we can't live up to them, so we fall short of making heaven our home. But that's not the end.
We can come to right standing with God, when we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins. Why? Because without Jesus, we have no access to our Father in heaven, or forgiveness of our sins:
I Timothy 2:5 - "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
Jesus came to earth so we would know, and not have to guess, how to get to heaven. He also sent His followers out into the world, to teach all how to be saved, so we wouldn't miss heaven. For without Jesus, there is no way to have access to our Father in heaven. Do you know a better way? This is God Almighty's plan of salvation...not flawed man's. Contrary to belief, mere mortals are not smarter nor wiser than their Creator God.
If we neglect God's Truths, we are without excuse.
John 15:22 - "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin."
One does not give an invitation to a party without giving the directions. God has planned the biggest and best party in all of Creation, and we are all invited. The directions are in His Word. With an open heart and mind, they are easy to understand. Send Him your RSVP before your deadline.
We can see people, even churches and denominations that stray from God's Word - and sort of make up doctrine 'to fit the special needs of today'. As if we can choose our style of faith from a buffet!
'Designer faith' might be good for attendance - but not so much for being right with God.
The Word of God is timeless. Stick with that, and you can't go wrong. [Actually, we can go wrong - and do! That's why Jesus is so very important to all of us!]
