@hippyjoe1955 However it is still a commandment and it still remains
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 Sorry but as Christians we are not under the law but under Grace. No amount of law keeping will earn you a place in heaven. Only accepting the Grace of God through Faith will suffice.
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 i understand keeping the law alone won't earn a place in heaven but God says if you love me keep my commandments. It does not obsolve us from keeping the law. Yes i agree we are saved by his grace . nothing we can do can earn our way... Yet he still commands us to keep his law.... It is there for a reason. It is still valid today.

@Sassygirl42 His commandments are easy. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart mind and soul and love you neighbour as yourself. Somehow keeping the sabbath doesn't show up on that list.
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 the 4th commandment is on the list... If you love him you will keep his commandments all of them.
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 @hippyjoe1955 jf you love him with all your mind and soul you will keep his law as he commands. Its not optional
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 The Ten Commandments were nailed to the cross. We are not to go back to the old thinking it is better than the new.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 You can't keep His law even if you tried. That is the point of the law. It shows you it can't be done.
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 no they were not! Sorry. That's not correct. God does not chenge. No where does it say his commandments were nailed to the cross. Where does it say that in the bible? No where
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 all things can be done through Christ who strengthens me... That is biblical @hippyjoe1955
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 that is not the point of the law.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 Actually it is. Do try to read St Paul's writings on the matter.
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 @hippyjoe1955 sorry, but Gods law is God's law. ...never changes
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 Did I ever say it changed? Jesus said not one jot or tiddle would be gone before it was fulfilled. It was fulfilled when Jesus died on the Cross. Some of His final words were "IT IS FINISHED".

@Sassygirl42 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. Colosians 2: 13 - 19
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 that is not referring to the commandments. They are still valid.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 What part of sabbath seems to elude you?
"or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality"
Sassygirl42 · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 the commandments are the commandments. Period
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Sassygirl42 Yes they are the law. St Paul wrote in Romans 6:14
For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
The attempt to keep the law is in fact sin for is so doing you are rejecting the Grace so freely given.
