no they believed in Jesus coming, the Messiah. like we believe in what happened in the past, they believe what would happen in the future.

What about the people living not in the middle east who never heard of yahweh or jesus?
softlywaking · 41-45, F
@UnparalleledMonster: no one had heard of Jesus. it's not important his name. it is more important his spirit. they believed in the afterlife or sheol. i think that's the name? and it says in the new testament that when Jesus died he preached in hell, and brought a lot of people to eternal life.

@Softlywaking:

Sorry i don't understand. Are you saying that these people actually did believe in jesus but by a different name?
softlywaking · 41-45, F
@UnparalleledMonster: no they had hope for the Christ/Messiah to come, they didn't know his name.

@Softlywaking:

The jungle tribes in Papua New Guinea had hope for the chirst/massiah to come?
softlywaking · 41-45, F
@UnparalleledMonster: no. but they still have a law written in their heart that says right from wrong. just different for people who haven't heard.

@Softlywaking:

Even aside from the fact that cultural differences between "right" and "wrong" are prevalent, knowing right from wrong isn't what gets you into heaven. It'd beleiving in god almighty and jesus the savior
softlywaking · 41-45, F
@UnparalleledMonster: i believe you. also it's all about grace. God has grace for the people who haven't heard. look at the link I sent you.

@Softlywaking:

I don't really understand. It sounds like it's saying you achieve salvation through god's grace (the sacrifice of jesus christ) but also that if you follow your own moral law then you're saved even if you never heard of jesus.

Hoe does that work?
softlywaking · 41-45, F
@UnparalleledMonster: it's a bit of both. i know it's confusing. but you need to believe and have faith, but faith without works is dead. if you go around murduring people, that's obviously not ok. learning all this is a journey, if you think you know it all, you have so much more to learn. i'm still comprehending it. God is complex.
