Jesus isn't interested in what church, denomination, or as people say, what "religion" one belongs to. [Spirituality & Religion]
Religion is nothing. It is only man-made philosophy. Jesus did not die for religion. He died for each individual, so we could have a personal relationship with Him. When one accepts Jesus as their personal Savior, they are only called a Christian because that means they are a follower of Christ, not a religion. Religion did not die on the cross for our sins. Jesus did. That's why it is called a personal relationship, and He is our personal Savior.
Which god to choose? That's up to you, but Jesus is the only one who has access to His Father in heaven, who forgives our sins. Jesus is our only Mediator between God and man, so we can have eternal life in heaven (1 Timothy 2:5).
This is something that we must not leave to chance. Where we shall spend eternity, is a choice we must make, or we remain unsaved and unforgiven for our sins. Therefore, this is the most important decision we shall ever make in our entire life, because that choice determines where we'll spend eternity.
Absolutely no one has to go to hell. Remain in the unforgiven state of sin you are in right now, and you'll stay separated from God. All it takes to be forgiven and fit for heaven, is your decision to turn away from a life of sin, invite Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior, and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. He wants to save you and restore fellowship between you and God.
He's not mad at you. Not even close! He doesn't hate you. He hates sin! Why? Because sin separates you from Him. He was willing to do anything to save your soul, and He proved that by dying on the cross to pay for your sins. He paid your sin debt for you, but He wants to know you want His free gift of salvation, so that's why He waits for you to accept His invitation to come to Him and be forgiven... so He can help you get to heaven.
Just as you would never force your love on someone you love, nor force them to love you, the same goes for Jesus. He wants to know you love Him. When you come to Him of your own free will, that tells Him exactly where your heart really stands...that you mean business. He loves you with all his heart, and therefore is offering to forgive you of your sins, so you can live in heaven for eternity. He desires that for you, more than anything in this world, but if you refuse to have your sins forgiven, you'll remain in your lost state, by your own choice. God will honor your decision to stay lost and reject His free gift of salvation. He will not force His will on you. He offers, but it's up to you to receive His free love gift of salvation. If you miss heaven, it will only be because you made that choice out of pride and unrepentance. That is not what He wanted for you, and He proved that. He proved His deep love for you. That's the only way you can be saved, and thank God he loved us enough to even offer a way to escape Hell. This is not a God who wants to do us harm or evil. He came strictly to save us from our sins.
Eternity is a lot longer, obviously, than the very short time we spend on earth. Your soul is at stake, so this is not something you leave to chance.
For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, yet loses his own soul? Matthew 16:26
