Religions are a code of conduct for the normal human being. We all have different code of conducts.
I am living in a green area so eating meat or killing an animal to have my food is not recommended.
If I go and live in a desert or freezing environment, where there are no plants, I would have to kill animals for food and that's what the religion allows (Islam and Christianity) but Islam does it bit properly. It says "Look directly into the eyes of animal before killing it and feel the circumstances with which it is going through at the moment"
Likewise the circumcision is a basic in Islam because the religion originally evolved in a desert where there was no water. So, if you don't take bath for a week or so, it would give rise to bacteria so they circumcise.
