They're only trying to help in the ways they know, and whether it helps or not, it shows they care.

I would take anyone asking for a divine intercession on my behalf as a very good thing, regardless of my beliefs. Be that to God, Zeus, tiamat, or a flying spaghetti monster

It is good to have good thoughts. And it is the thought/gesture that counts. Especially if followed by action.

I don't. What's a bunch of people talking to themselves going to do to help? Nothing.

You must have some faith that there is a God listening to family and friends prayers since you feel helped.

As a non-believer prayer is a euphemism for reflection and concern for me.
