If there is no life after death, then what about justice? [Spirituality & Religion]

Would you like that? I don't! Our God is just!

I have a few problems with the concept of hell, one is that the line between victim and oppressor is often blurred and a cycle of violence only repeats the cycle. The idea of hell doesn't really redeem people nor gives them the chance to. Which I think is abusive in by itself. There's not just "victim" and there's not just "oppressor" because often times they are both and then of course you do have the plain evil people.

On other hand, I can rationalize justice in a non supernatural way if you must. There's this good video about karma not being something supernatural but something that is present with you for the rest of your life due to previous decisions you've made. It's basically the slow habitual destruction of yourself that is the karma and you don't need anything supernatural for it.

There doesn't have to be a hell to have justice, for instance take a robber. Most people think they got all that cash and got away so life is perfect right?

Well no... the reality is this wasn't their first bad decision. Most likely they been in and out of jail with routine bad decisions. They got away with that cash but now they will be forever looking over their shoulder, wondering if the person knocking on their door is an FBI agent.

They won't be able to spend it in the way they want to, it will be gone. They'll end up being caught when they do something else or the money is gone, they will have to go on to commit repeated crimes just to keep up with the money.

It is true what they say, there's no rest for the wicked and that's the irony of it.

What is shown in Hollywood is just smoke and mirrors. Just because a person goes out of their way to make sure you see as if their lives are perfect, doesn't mean there isn't a world of hurt inside them and that in turn they want to make others hurt. But see that's the hell part, they're already in it.

@SatanBurger I agree with a lot of what you said there. But do you believe that a rapist, murderer, or that robber deserve heavens bliss with no consequences and to live forever with God in the next life? Well that is our Jesus. He took the punishment of the murderer, rapist and robber on his own shoulders so they can be forgiven and have a chance to live in paradise forever. There is a consequence sometimes like you say in this life because we dig a grave, and then we look over our shoulder our whole life. But with God it is easier to live life I believe, because he protects us from harm and covers our mistakes even in this life often.

@Carazaa You asked a specific question of "no life after death" how would criminals get their just dues? So I answered how there is already justice without life after death as people often in the process of destroying other people, also destroy themselves. That's the bottom line of what I was saying.

Let's say heaven was real for the sake of an argument.

Victim and oppressors are not always in two separate categories, how would you suppose breaking a chain of violence by practicing more violence to the people who learned violence through environment and not by nature in the first place? Why is redemption off the table for people who can change?

An example of this are ex KKK members who have been to prison but denounce their membership and are now actively fighting to deprogram younger KKK members. The hardcore KKK members are raised in it a lot of the time, they do things because they were programmed to do them. Eventually you start questioning your own actions when you wake up. They can do immense good by fighting extremism.

@Carazaa I also take up issue with the hierarchical nature of crimes regarding heaven. What makes people think they are guaranteed a spot in heaven with the mistakes they've made with this unforgiving God? What makes them feel they are for redemption but others cannot? Who determines this class based system of have and have nots?

@SatanBurger God determines who is forgiven and who isn't, not because of our actions but Jesus actions and our faith. None of us deserve heaven. We are all doomed. without Gods love. This is something only people who are saved understand. We understand how Holy God is and how we fall so short there is no way we can be close to god or his Holiness will kill us.

@Carazaa Why even ask questions if you don't want to consider another narrative. Also if god determines who is forgiven and who is not, not because of our actions then there's no point in caring about heaven at all and there's no point in caring about your actions if the only action is total worship that counts and not your actions.

Solely because all it will come down to is if this god likes you or not. That's ultimately pretty terrible that not only people can be affected by environment but they don't have a chance to redeem themselves or have a better life than the one they were born into.

Sorry but Christianity is a crappy religion.
