What does natural disaster has to do with punishement of our sins? [Spirituality & Religion]

I give an example.
An earthquake, tsunami, wildfire. Some people tend to blame it towards non - believers. I mean, come on.
Give me scientific relation between these two things.

I remember homophobics blame lgbtq community for disasters happen in their place. You know, they quoted bibical from story of "Sodom and Gommorah."

Huhh.

PS: Global warming is happening, why don't blame ourselves for corrupting our planet. Sigh.

Placing everything in God's hands is really the fastest way to absolve ourselves of any responsibility.

I personally think it's an affront to God to presume to know His will and to project it onto the events around us to explain them. Bad storm happens -> because of this or that social or political thing.

And it's an affront to our own intelligence, which we've been given by God. Built on the river, got flooded. Yea. That happens. Don't need a metaphysical explanation.
