If you ask a preacher a question about something he just preached, and he says 'I was just preaching the word.'... [Spirituality & Religion]

Does that mean everything he said was supposed to be straight from God, and therefore unabe to be enquired about? Or is it just really bad manners to ask questions about something that was preached?

He was using an easy answer but preachers can and do preach inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Do you remember your question?

@Pfuzylogic My questions tend to be about what the preachers mean when they are going on about what everyone should do for the church to prove themselves or do their duty. The Bible allows for people having different abilities, but too often human beings don't allow for that.

I did have a question about a Bible passage once, but they couldn't help so I had to pray about it a lot and search it in some commentaries.

The evangelical churches in my area tend to be run like businesses, so they need lots of money and free time from their members, and they don't tend to value creative gifts as much as heavy social involvement.

Also I learned the hard way, that just because someone seems nice or claims to share my beliefs, it doesn't mean they would be safe as a mentor. Too often what passes for 'spiritual maturity' and 'godliness' is just social activities and religious talk. These things can be good but they are not everything.

I am sorry that you have had such a difficult time in your church? You must be looking for God’s guidance in prayer.

@Pfuzylogic Yes, I am. I'm also trying to process the stuff that's happened.

You have my sympathy.
The church can act like the rest of the world at time because it is people with their own drives at work sometimes.
I’m sure you know this all on your own.
