If you ask a preacher a question about something he just preached, and he says 'I was just preaching the word.'... [Spirituality & Religion]

Does that mean everything he said was supposed to be straight from God, and therefore unabe to be enquired about? Or is it just really bad manners to ask questions about something that was preached?

I would interpret that as him not knowing the answer. If he claims to be preaching “the word” he’s set himself up as knowledgeable and should be able to answer questions about the “message”. It’s not rude to ask-presumably he’s there to offer guidance, not just talk.
