I believe all people are equally spiritual. Spirituality is just the construct. Through what means or practices the spirituality is expressed, is different for everyone, even if only slightly. I'm pious in my beliefs, but my beliefs have nothing to do with religion. Someone who's pious in their religious beliefs is no more or less spiritual than I.

@PhoenixPhail That is intriguing. People definitely express their spirituality in different ways. I would point to an lack of spirituality to why such websites like this exist. Full of depression, unhappiness, self loathing lost souls. Many people on this website speak of love but dont make the link to the spirit. For me love is the greatest example of your spirit
@JimboUk There's nothing "un-spiritual" about depression, unhappiness, or being a self loathing lost soul. That's my point. There's just as much spirituality at work there as anywhere.

@PhoenixPhail I agree, my point is if you deny your own spirituality, that will cause you pain.
@JimboUk You're still inside the box. Forget the box. There's no way to deny spirituality. It's being out of alignment with your true self which "causes" pain. But being out of alignment with one's true self is no less spiritual than being in perfect alignment with it. Being out of alignment is accompanied by pain as an indicator that there's something which doesn't line up.

@PhoenixPhail I cant disagree with your statement "there's no way to deny spirituality" as it is an universal human experience. I meant more in the ideologies and philosophies people follow which contradict seeking wisdom or self improvement.
@JimboUk Yes, religious beliefs, ideologies and philosophies are used to destroy our connection to ourselves and each other.

@PhoenixPhail I totally disagree with you on that point. Christianity for instance has taught people life isnt about avoiding suffering but picking up your cross and baring it. This one example has impacted countless number of lifes which people on their own wouldnt have had the ability to observe.
@JimboUk Your point is founded on the false premise that people wouldn't know how to find themselves without Jesus. And, the promise of an afterlife, which is really what religion is about, is here for all of us, regardless of any religious or philosophical practice. Most teachings of Christianity say, yes, you can have what awaits you after you die, so long as you live your life according to scripture. Living your life within a system of reward and punishment, is slavery sold as freedom.
@JimboUk Christianity is the only religion or ideology which does not propose a way to end suffering, but rather a way to use it.
@PhoenixPhail With all due respect, that is not a good description of Christianity. At the risk of great over-simplification -- Christ came because it was obvious that people could not make it by bare knuckling obedience to the rules and laws which had been laid down in the law.
