If God gives us free will, what do you make of the Ten Commandments? [Spirituality & Religion]

People would not have known to break the commandments unless they were given. Just like a child being told not to touch something...as soon as no one is looking they will touch it. Human nature is to be defiant and question everything.

@Pinkstarburst You nailed it. It's ultimately unsuccessful because it discounts human nature. The result is guilt and hypocrisy.
Maybe that's why, in my personal experience, I find atheists living more "moral" lives than Christians. The forbidden fruit doesn't exist.
@Ynotisay Thanks. Not all Christians are hypocrites or monsters though...some of us are just trying to live a good life like every one else.
🙂

@Pinkstarburst Of course. And some atheists are messed up. There's no "all" when it comes to behavior.
But it is my overall experience that things like morality, honesty, character, etc. are better exemplified by those who choose to behave that way rather than those being told to.

@Pinkstarburst you are referring to original sin, the truth being it was the original blessing.

@Pinkstarburst I believe most of you are, it's the guys running the show I have an issue with, not the followers, only in that they don't see the bigger picture and that they're being manipulated by them greedy bastards at the top.
