If God gives us free will, what do you make of the Ten Commandments? [Spirituality & Religion]

The Ten Commandments were given to a specific group of people at a specific time. The Commandments are something believers should look to and try to adhere to, even unbelievers in the majority have no problem keeping most of them and dont even try. There are things that were done away with in Christ, one of the ten commandments, that one being Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. That commandment does not stand in the Christian world. We should adhere the best we can to the word of God in general, being believers that is. But to break a commandment or commandments have no bearing on ones salvation. If we were able to keep Gods word, Christ died in vein.
