I had a WWJD moment tonight.. [Spirituality & Religion]

Was sitting in my car in the parking lot of my college waiting to go in to a night class. A man that appeared homeless knocked on my window...and I rolled down my window and he very incoherently..like he wasn't very mentally with it asked for money for food...and I gave him the five dollar bill I had in my pocket...he walked off as soon as I did ...I hope he is ok right now...and I know most people would assume he was going to use it for drugs or alcohol...and that may be true...but he was hungry...and I intended to help him get food. God gives us all grace and sometime we waste that gift, which is even more valuable that money, on things like having a bitter heart. Who are we to judge? Is using money given to you by a stranger on drugs any worse than wasting our spiritual gifts on a bitter heart? Is not God's gift to us more valuable than anything we could give another person?

It is a nice thing to do, but this just reminds me of the fucked up true story about a woman picking up a hitchhiker. The two start a friendship and she’s very friendly and helps him to his destination. They exchange phone numbers at the end, and he calls her a week later to tell her that he was planning to murder her and that her politeness stopped him. He then advised her to never stop for hitchhikers ever again.

Not to offend you or anything just reminds me of that.

@ShaythePanTransMan not offended

@antisocialbutterfly Yes. But maybe sometimes safety is more important than niceness....

@ShaythePanTransMan my window was rolled most of the way up so I felt pretty safe
@ShaythePanTransMan I was about to warn her of the same. I think that was not a very smart thing to do at all! She didn't know if he had a gun or was just dressed up like a bum. That's a good way to get killed. I understand her reasoning, and appreciate her kind heart, but this is just not the thing to do in this day and age if you want to stay alive.
@antisocialbutterfly No!!! You're really asking for it and are too trusting. I hope you never do that again.

@antisocialbutterfly But still....
People can easily exploit the kindness of others for their own benefit. Ever heard of social engineering?
