Why Is It So Hard? [Spirituality & Religion]

Why is it so hard for skeptics to believe that Yahweh, the God who lives forever, is God? What's the big deal?

Assuming someone truly believed in another God and stated they had a true spiritual connection with that God, why do you find it so hard to accept that their belief is valid?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Because there is only one God and not many.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 But the other person would say exactly the same thing about your God. Neither of you could prove that your statements are factual.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 If I can accept your faith without believing in your God, why can't you accept that someone might have a different, equally strong, faith?

I know that I have attacked you on elements of your faith, such as your belief in the Bible being a historical document and the age of the earth, but I don't believe that I have denied the possibility of your God existing, even though I don't believe in it.

It's really not that hard to let others have their faith, provided that faith doesn't try to deny reality or force itself on others.

God is not a man that He is capable of lying. His Word says that He, Yahweh, alone is God and there is no other. By His Spirit of Truth, I take Him at His Word.

@GodSpeed63 The ultimate key to Christianity is that it starts out believing that there is a Truth. Scientism believes only in mistakes and lies.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Where in this particular thread has science been mentioned? I'm discussing beliefs, not science.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Scientism is a religious beliefs. Didn't you get the memo?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 Accepting that other beliefs exist doesn't imply that God lies, it just points out that your God exists for you and someone else's God exists for them. The truths can co-exist.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Well, argue the point.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Argue what point? The Fact is you believe in magic mud. Your belief is beyond silly. Magic mud made dinosaurs because it made a mistake when it was trying to recreate a bacterium
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 To use your own line, you don't know what I believe. You don't like people making assumptions about your beliefs, give others the same courtesy.

Demonstrate that scientism is the same as science and then show how it is based upon lies. Remember that you are comparing two different truths. One is faith based attempts to explain metaphysical concepts, the other is materialistic and attempts to explain the physical world.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Actually I do know what you believe. You don't know what you believe. Rather ironic isn't it? You believing in magic mud and not even knowing it.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 That's not an answer, it's just you pretending you can read minds again. Oh well, I suppose that it helps you to divert the discussion from the points raised. Somewhat predictable.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger So you believe in the Supernatural Being that Created everything or do you believe in magic mud. There isn't any alternative.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 You don't like people questioning your beliefs, why should I discuss mine with you.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger I am simply pointing how silly your belief system really is. Magic mud is your only answer. How did the universe come to be? Magic mud. How did life form? Magic mud. How did biodiversity come to be? Magic mud. How did the ecosystem come to be integrated that it recycles everything over and over again for billions of years without running out? Magic mud.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger How did the birth process develop? Magic mud. How did the 5 senses develop? Magic mud. What happens at the point of death? Mud loses magic.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Your obsession is showing.

You don't know what my beliefs are, so stop trying to pretend you can read minds.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger So if you don't believe in magic mud what do you believe?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Why should I tell you. You claim to already know what I and everyone else believes.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger So you believe in magic mud but are to ashamed to admit it. Funny how that works.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 That's your deluded belief. Have you had problems with OCD for long? There are treatments available for it.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Not deluded at all. You have boxed yourself in with your materialism genesis which is to say Magic mud.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 You really need a new routine, this one is getting so boring.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger As is your silly theory that you keep trying to defend. The fact is you believe in magic mud even as you try to deny it. It is the only alternative. Don't like the idea of God. Fine. Your choice but your alternative is magic mud that runs out of magic when you die.
