Who is a childs christening really for? [Spirituality & Religion]

I always thought it was for the child but a number I go too now seem to be more for the parents or the family

It's for the child, the people come to celebrate for the child. That was my experience with my kids anyhow

@SW-User that's how I hope it is for my daughter. It's to celebrate her birth and commit to raising her in a particular way until she can make her own choices
