Really, we need religion in order to believe in God? [Spirituality & Religion]

Who, in their right mind, would think such thing?

I myself believe in trying to do the right things in life. I have read the Bible and went to church, but I don't feel I need that to be a good person. There are to many religions out there in this world. So I believe in doing the right thing and I suppose that could be a religion in itself. I don't think I even came close to answering the question but I wanted to put what I think out here anyways
@Footsugar123 trying to live a good life in order to please God by your own efforts is futile , says God. He said our righteousness is as filthy rags. He said we cannot earn our way to heaven. The Bible clearly states that it is by grace, through faith, that we come to God. So no one can claim they saved themselves.

@LadyGrace You got that right, sister.
@LadyGrace I understand what your saying but I didn't say I didn't believe in God or in the things the Bible teaches, I use those teaching to do the right the right thing, we all have that little voice that tells us right from wrong. I don't have to go over board with religion, or argue my points because I don't think that is the right thing to do, not saying that you are mind you, I go through life the best way I can. Judgment day I will be judged by God. And if I am judged unworthy then so be it. Thank you for your time.
Right, and I wasn’t inferring that you don’t believe in God or the Bible. I just found your answer very confusing. Your very first line in answering GodSpeed, is stated in past tense, as if you’re saying you don’t need to read God’s Word in order to live right, nor go to church. Then in your answer to me, your statement sounded contradictory in that you said you use God’s Word to do the right thing.

I’m not arguing your points. Just wanted to be clear on what you’re saying. Godspeed is right. We don’t need religion. Religion is just man-made philosophy. Another reason why I am bringing this out is because some are confused about how to get to heaven. There are many paths, alright, but some don’t realize that Jesus said there is only one path that gets us to heaven. They’ll remain lost, as long as they trust that living right and being a good person, will earn them eternal life. They say, Well, just as long as I try to live a good life and do my best, I’ll get to heaven. That’s trusting in one’s own works to get them to heaven. They may be sincere, but they’ll be sincerely wrong. They don’t understand that “good works”, meaning service to God, comes after one is saved...not before. Further, being united with Christ upon confession of faith, we don’t have to guess if we’ll get to Heaven once we’ve been saved. We know we will, because we have security in Christ, His Word, and His once and for all blood sacrifice. He is incapable of lying. He keeps His Word.
