Really, we need religion in order to believe in God? [Spirituality & Religion]

Who, in their right mind, would think such thing?

we dont need it to believe in god, but i guess they coincide because religion explains things about god.
Vain philosophy, which is man-made religion, tries to explain God through distorted lenses. That’s why it doesn’t work. People don’t need religion. They are in need of a relationship with Jesus. @Girlyfriendcollecting

@Girlyfriendcollecting @LadyGrace Amen sister, amen. I couldn't said it better myself. Praise God.
Religion explains things about God? Yes, the wrong things. That’s why Jesus said to follow the only path that leads to Christ, because the other paths lead to destruction. For example, Islam says that Allah is the only true God, and that anyone who says Christ is the Son of God will be condemned (Qur'an, 5:72, 9:30). Our sins were paid for by Jesus' death on the cross, and by accepting his payment and believing in Him, we can be forgiven; we don't have to earn our way into heaven...which is a good thing, because we can't do it. We believe Christ is the only way to God, because without the forgiveness that comes through his death and resurrection, there's simply no way for us to be able to stand before a Holy God. Jesus, the perfect Son of God, is the only one qualified to offer Himself as payment for our wrong-doing.

While we respect other’s beliefs, that doesn’t mean they are the right path. Moses could mediate on the law, Mohammed could brandish a sword, Buddha could give personal counsel, Confucius could offer wise sayings, but none of these men were qualified to offer an atonement for the sins of the world. As the only Son of God, Jesus alone qualified, so it DOES matter which route one takes in their spiritual journey. The Bible clearly teaches that all other routes ultimately are dead ends; that Jesus Christ is the way that leads to God. He is the TRUTH….He is the LIFE. We know that the Bible teaches that there IS only one truth—not many. And the truth is that all of us have sinned and if we are going to get to Heaven, Someone has to pay the penalty for our wrongdoing. And Jesus, by virtue of His sinlessness and divinity, is the only One qualified to do this….to be our substitute.

We live in a world where there seems to be endless options in virtually every arena of life. And people expect there to be options in this arena as well, but Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Other paths are essentially DO-IT-YOURSELF propositions. Follow this way of life, they say, and you stand a “good chance” of gaining favor with God and eventually achieving salvation. That’s what false teachers try to feed people. Other faiths are attempts by people to reach out to God, but scripture tells us that God’s gift of salvation through Jesus was GOD-given, GOD-driven, GOD-empowered, and GOD-originated. The gift is not from man to God, through our efforts. It is from God to man.
