Christmas has been turned to a materialistic ritual of greed and pagan cultures but never forget the birth of christ and doing good on this holiday. [Spirituality & Religion]

Its a christian celebration of the birth of our saviour Jesus who came for all men. Its about doing good and sharing love so dont forget that in the consumer focused culture making millions out of this holiday.

@Strawberrry All the christian festivals are taken from or based on earlier Pagan celebrations.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960 Nope.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Strawberrry Wrong again.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 Name one that wasn't taken from or based on a Pagan one.

@suzie1960 Thanksgiving, Christmas, Resurrection Day, Pastor's Appreciation Day, Veteran's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, 4th of July, shall I go on?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 Thanksgiving is an American celebration of their ancestors' safe arrival, nothing to do with christianity per se. Veterans' Day sounds like something to do with the armed forces, I'm not familiar with it as it's not celebrated here so I doubt it's christian festival. St. Patrick was possibly a christian missionary although many of the saints started off as Pagan Deities. The day is celebrated in Ireland and the US but it's not a general christian festival. Mother's day came from Paganism, - honouring The Great Mother. Father's day came along later in the name of equality. 4th July celebrates US independence, hardly a religious festival.

Resurrection Day is better known as Easter - named after Oestra , the Pagan Goddess of the Spring. ;) I'll give you Pastor's Appreciation Day but it's not really a religious festival, just a way for the Pastor ("Emperor") to lord it over the peasants (you).

Who said anything about religion? Thanksgiving has everything to do with Believers in Christ. If you'd pay attention to your history, those pilgrims came to the new world to escape religious persecution so they can worship God in deed and in truth.
I have no clue what country you live in but we celebrate our Veterans here in the U.S. for the freedom they purchased with their lives during the wars they fought in to preserve freedom and peace. Memorial Day is another holiday that we remember those who've lost their lives in the service of God and their country. As for St. Patrick, you really need to read up on your history. He was created in God's image like everyone else. None of us were pagan deities before we became saints through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Again, read up on your history for Mother's Day and Father's day. They were both not pagan holidays as you suppose. The 4th of July is Independence day When, by the grace of Almighty God, America gained it's freedom from Great Britain. You should read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution sometime. Please, before you make anymore statements, know what you're talking about first.

I asked about purely christian festivals, those neither taken from nor based on Pagan festivals. You seem to be unaware that christianity is a religion.

@suzie1960
You seem to be unaware that Christianity is a religion.
I do know what I'm talkin' about which is why I've been letting you know that true Christianity is not a religion but the Way of life.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 You can deny it all you like but you can't change the fact that christianity is a religion.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960
You can deny it all you like but you can't change the fact that christianity is a religion.
You can't change the truth, Suzie Q. True Christianity will never be a religion. That's the truth whether you like it or not.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63
True Christianity will never be a religion.
Almost every christian there is or ever was would disagree with you. Of course, as it's really just a collection of myths and superstitions, you could be right. Fairy tales aren't usually considered religious.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960
Almost every christian there is or ever was would disagree with you.
You certainly have that wrong. Christ, Himself, hates man made organized religion.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 LOL!! You can't know many christians then. I wonder what happened to the couple of billion or so there were supposed to be? :)
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960 Wrong again, I know a lot of Christians who are not religious.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 That's an oxymoron.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960
That's an oxymoron.
What's oxymoron is someone claiming to have once been a Christian and then shows herself to be clueless of what being a real Christian is all about.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 Suzieclueless is truly clueless or at least she thinks we are. "I was a Christian" No she just went to church a few times.

LOL! You're really desperate to deny I was a christian aren't you? I can understand why, a christian who manages to break free is anathema to you. It calls into question the existence of your made up "god jehovah" thing. :)
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960
You're really desperate to deny I was a christian aren't you?
Nope, but it seems to me that your desperate to make people believe you were.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 I don't care either way. I know I was a christian, whether you believe me doesn't change that fact.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960
I don't care either way. I know I was a christian, whether you believe me doesn't change that fact.
If that's true, then why do you hate God? Please, answer the question this time.
@suzie1960 They pretending to be omniscient again?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 I've answered that question many times but you don't seem able to understand. Once again, I DON'T HATE YOUR SILLY MADE UP "GOD JEHOVAH" THING, I SIMPLY DON'T BELIEVE IT EXISTS. If you really can't understand that, ask your mummy or carer to explain it to you.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960
I DON'T HATE YOUR SILLY MADE UP "GOD JEHOVAH" THING, I SIMPLY DON'T BELIEVE IT EXISTS.
Convince me.
