Christmas has been turned to a materialistic ritual of greed and pagan cultures but never forget the birth of christ and doing good on this holiday. [Spirituality & Religion]

Its a christian celebration of the birth of our saviour Jesus who came for all men. Its about doing good and sharing love so dont forget that in the consumer focused culture making millions out of this holiday.

The birth of chirst was not on the day of christmas, and christmas was never christian. It has always been a pagan ritual and then christianity adopted it.

If you want to remember Jesus, then remember the day he died for our sins. Remember the bread and wine.

I understand what you're saying, brother, no one actually knows when Jesus was born but we do know He came into the world during the darkest days of the year which is around Christmas time. To me, Christmas is a reminder that Jesus did come into the world to save us from the penalty for our sins. Therefore, I celebrate that He did come into the world to save it. Okay?

@GodSpeed63 I agree it is unknown. However I disagree that it was somewhere around winter. This is what I believe:

The registration. Shortly before Jesus was born, Caesar Augustus issued a decree ordering “all the inhabited earth to be registered.” Everyone had to register in “his own city,” which might have required a journey of a week or more. (Luke 2:1-3) That order—probably made to support taxation and military conscription—would have been unpopular at any time of year, but it is unlikely that Augustus would have provoked his subjects further by forcing many of them to make long trips during the cold winter.

The sheep. Shepherds were “living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks.” (Luke 2:8) The book Daily Life in the Time of Jesus notes that flocks lived in the open air from “the week before the Passover [late March]” through mid-November. It then adds: “They passed the winter under cover; and from this alone it may be seen that the traditional date for Christmas, in the winter, is unlikely to be right, since the Gospel says that the shepherds were in the fields

Well how do you celebrate his birth? Through an adopted pagan ritual? I don't think that's how Jesus wants to be remembered since it's clearly an unclean celebration indeed.

@MartinTheFirst You need to remember, brother, that the Romans were not particularly nice guys where countries who resisted them were concerned. What better time for Jesus to be born than in the darkest days of the year?

@GodSpeed63 A government, if possible, wouldn't anger their people without reason. While not being nice, they were not stupid

@MartinTheFirst You're right, they we'ren't stupid but they knew how to treat their captives with excellent cruelty. They were masters at it.
