The bible says that women who wear mens clothes and men who wear womens clothes are an abomination to God. Deutoronomy 22:5. There is a devision betwe [Spirituality & Religion]

An abomination wont get into heaven. Men dont wear dresses and women dont wear pants. If biblical figure wore robes deutronomy 22:5 would make no sense at all! Read the bible with discernment.

I'm not sure what your point is... religious rules then were as nutty as the Taliban and other religious idiocies today? priests need to wear pants instead of dainty robes? Scottish males should not dress in traditional costumes? The "wise men of the East" were dressed inappropriately for the stable?

Deuteronomy was written by a priestly group in Temple days who were in conflict with another tradition in Jerusalem c600 BC... not exactly relevant to today's Fundamentalists or anyone else today, so I really don't know why you bring it up other than to create arguments in our society between those who oppose religious interference in public life or persecution of those who believe differently, such as trans people.

@Humanist321 Pose the reason to why you believe that it wass written in 600BC
@MartinTheFirst I don't intend to write a textbook for you on the literary history of the formation of the J, E, D, P document components of the Pentateuch. Do some research for yourself. Any [non-Fundamentalist] intro textbook on the OT or any university intro course on the OT will have that info. [And 600 BC is an approximate number, prior to 586 BC and the beginning of the Babylonian Captivity--although there is some dispute about that date, the argument being that it was composed during the captivity. It is a highly technical argument. BTW, I am a retired prof.

@Humanist321 You didn't give anything with that paragraph. I asked for the reason why you believe it. If you're a professor then at least prioritize teaching.
That is the scholarly consensus dating. I can't teach you dating methodology of ancient complex documents in a short paragraph. It is not a question to which there is a quick answer. If you really want to know, then learn. You might as well ask me to explain global warming or genetic theory.

@Humanist321 So you believe it because other people believe it? You can't even give a summarized reason for something this "complex"?
