What is the difference between fate and destiny? Let me know what you think [Spirituality & Religion]

LadyGrace · Best Comment
You make your own destiny by the decisions you make.
@Daddy91 There’s no such thing as “luck”. Things happen for a reason. We’re either in control and responsible, or not. We reap what we sow by our choices, including where we’ll spend eternity, so that is up to us. Fate doesn’t decide our coarse...our choices do.

Oh thanks. I appreciate that. @Daddy91

Fate : Noun. The development of events outside of a persons control
Regarded as pre-determined by a supernatural power

Destiny : Noun. The events that will necessarily happen to a particular person in the future
"Fate" is what we call destiny in certain situations, "destiny" is what we call fate in certain situations. More often, "destiny" implies something that was determined by fate. Figuratively, 'fate' is the pitcher, and 'destiny' is the catcher.

The two are interchangeable, though fate has a more negative connotation.

Destiny is a goal or an event. Fate is the result.

I'm not sure there is a real difference between the two words.
