The skeptic can’t find God for the same reason a thief can’t find a police officer. It’s clear that some don’t want to believe. In which case, Jesus said to shake the dust from our feet and move on. 🙂

@LadyGrace Amen to that!!
@GodSpeed63 I think it’s time to move on from this debate. The Holy Spirit has knocked, but the occupant won’t open the door of his heart, so he’s made his choice.

@LadyGrace You'd have a valid point if it weren't for the fact that a few make a hell of a lot of money from it..And the Catholic Church in particular has used it's over arching oppression of Catholics to perpetuate cruelty, poverty, oppression by others and abuse. It isn't without consequences.
@HerKing Definitely not without consequences. There are phonies in every walk of life, and it’s going to be a sad day when some of these phony tv ministers stand and try to give an account of themselves before God and justify stealing money from people, but we aren’t accountable for them. Just our own lives.

@LadyGrace Where are you with the Catholic church?
I personally differ with them on some teachings which do not match God’s Word. @HerKing
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace But as an organisation? As a means to have so much influence (Even in law) on so many people?
@HerKing I’m not sure how to answer that, really, for the simple fact that people are not forced to follow them. Some have been indoctrinated into their beliefs since childhood, and follow without question.
@HerKing They have a huge influence in society, for sure. Perhaps because their laws are pretty liberal. People don’t like rules. They like their ears tickled, and important biblical teachings/issues from the pulpit, avoided. Thus the large following.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace Liberal? LOL...Sure...banning contraception is liberal right? It's the most liberal thing in the world to shame women into not wanting to be baby machines from puberty til menopause.

They don't have a 'following'. People are born into it, it's an indoctrination based on the oppression of the masses.
@HerKing I think you mistook my answer. I agree with what you’ve said. What I meant by liberal, was probably the wrong term to use. I meant some seem “loose” to me in regards to their attitude towards commandments. I can only tell you what I’ve observed, that being those who go to confession and repent of their sins, then live any way they like during the week, with no real convictions or changes for the better.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@HerKing Like you said, LadyGrace, The skeptics choose not to believe in God for lack of understanding of who He is.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace
for the better
How would you define better? How do you define a 'sin'?
@HerKing As far as a following, I meant some people are most likely to go to that church because they can do as they wish during the week. People “follow” the Pope, in droves. Yes, I stated they were indoctrinated into it from childhood.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace Isn't that the aim, to be free to do as you choose (Within reason)?
@HerKing Without changes for the better.....being convicted of sin, but still doing as they please. Not changing their ways, in other words. Repentance meaning nothing to them. Not willing to make the necessary changes to avoid sinning. Sin is disobedience towards God.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace I see..this all forgiving god bears a grudge against those who don't meet his/her specific requirements? Seems less like an institution of goodness and more an institution of didactic indoctrination resulting in wrath and being ostracized if you fail to meet those exacting standards..

I guess I'll remain a none believer because you see, I don't treat people like that.
You mean finding an excuse to sin? We don’t make the rules or set the standards. God does, and they aren’t kept because we have to. They are kept out of our great love for Jesus and His great sacrifice for us. We want to give Him our best, since He gave His best for us. Grace does not give us a license to sin. It gives us the privilege to serve our King. @HerKing
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace
God does
Really? Can you point to one syllable attributed to god in the bible?
@HerKing That’s fine. People tend to criticize what they don’t understand. It sounds like you don’t want nor like responsibility, so you avoid God. You accept and obey man’s laws, I assume, like respecting traffic laws, because you’re made to or there are consequences, and don’t complain about them, yet you have no respect for God’s laws and question His authority? There are spiritual laws one must obey, as well. Nothing hard, though, at all. When one is saved and unites with the family of Christ, there’s more freedom than anything. There seems to be no rules or laws because there is so much peace, love, joy, and one loves serving the Lord and pleasing him, after all he suffered for us. Jesus is the Truth, and the Truth sets one free. Not the other way around.
@HerKing You mean standard? Sure. The Ten Commandments.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace Which were written by whom?
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace
because there is so much peace, love, joy, and one loves serving the Lord
I can make you a list of people who started wars and continue to cite god being on their side as a reason for committing the most heinous crimes.
Don’t mistake me for those people. @HerKing
HerKing · 61-69, M
@LadyGrace I didn't suggest you were, I was pointing out the flaw in your assertion.
