A family that prays together [Spirituality & Religion]

[c=#800000]My family and I pray each night before going to bed and a few weeks back I suggested we read the Bible before praying because I like quoting the Bible when praying and my mom said it was a good idea. About two weeks later they started continuously suggesting I be the one to share. At first I didn't think too much into it but the more I thought about it it became clear they didn't care much about reading the Bible as a family. Today I suggested we stop doing it altogether and I'll do it on my own instead and they had mixed feelings about that. I felt like they weren't interested in taking part and I had no problem reading the Bible all on my own because I'll be going to Heaven all on my own anyway.

My mom told me not to complain that I do it most of the time because my siblings help me out all the time since I'm disabled but never complain so I should read for them every single day and be okay with it. I told her I never chose to be disabled and if I could do everything myself I would. My siblings told me they didn't care about reading the Bible as a family and that I should read all on my own and hearing everyone speak their thoughts made me cry when I was all alone. I don't know weather to ignore them the next time they suggest I read or just read for them to keep everyone happy[/c]

Do they know how you feel about it?

@Classified I told them but I don't think they care. They were laughing and joking about it

@karysma Well if you can handle it, then I think it is best to continue reading the Bible to them. Simply because it's the Bible.

If you feel it's too much, I think it's best to tell them you don't want to do it anymore when they ask you.

I really really want to continue reading but I feel unappreciated. It hurts

@karysma And they don't take your pain seriously?
karysma · 31-35, F
I don't think they realize they hurt my feelings

@karysma Maybe talk to the one you trust most with this? See if that person will realise it then?

I don't think they'll take me seriously. I'm sure I'll be over it in a few days

@karysma Do you want to give them a chance to take you seriously?
That could hurt so maybe it's risky.

Otherwise you could just wait those few days :)

I know they'll bring it up during our prayer session tomorrow and if I get to talking about it I'll end making a fool of myself by crying which would be embarrassing. I think I'll just act invisible till I feel okay

@karysma Okay, but if they don't take you seriously when you cry something is really wrong.

I hate showing people my weakness. I hate it when people feel sorry for me

@karysma Oh 😞
