Although some teachings are outdated and shouldn't be followed, I do believe there are some morals and lessons in religion that we should keep.

Weve had other stories throughout time that attempt to teach the morality of the time without using religion. While i agree that the teachings of Jesus hold some value in this sense, i view them on par with Aesops fables....:-)

Not only that, but to control them as well. If you are the one 'closer to God',speaking for God, or a god made flesh(pharoahs), then it was easier to control those who believed in that religion. We see it today where politicians get people to elect them, evenif its against those peoples best interests, by focusing on one or two 'religuous' based beliefs.

Yes, it was made to make people obey authority figures, with the threat of hell for disobedience.
