Given the size of the universe being 46 billion light years in diameter it seems statistically likely that there is alien life elsewhere but also given the traveling times even at faster than light speed, the chances of ever meeting intelligent life seem highly improbable.

@SW-User I would tend to agree but there is another factor we should consider. Creationist often claim the the probability of abiogenesis is so low it can't happen. That, of course, is wrong as any non-zero probability can occur. As all life on Earth appears to be related, it seems abiogenesis has only occurred here once. Could it be that the probability is so low that it has only occurred once in the entire universe?

@Sharon Yes interesting point, then also if time is infinite, then perhaps even the lowest probability becomes probable at some point?
