How can we say we have the love of God in us, if we hate certain people or groups? [Spirituality & Religion]

Even God doesn’t hate people. What He hates... is sin. Why? Because it separates us....from Him.

1 John 4:20: “If a man says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn't love his brother, whom he has seen, how can he love God, whom he has not seen?”

I had this woman come into work not too long ago.
We started talking about Christianity. And she said to me that she’s a Christian. (Well. She said she’s trying to be Christian. And that’s all that you can do.)

She doesn’t believe that anyone who doesn’t care about refugees and immigrants fleeing war torn countries is Christian.
She was tearing up speaking about the hardships of refugees, and she was just so sweet and lovely.
@ErikaTired The first thing I noticed here, is that she said she is “trying” to be a Christian. There’s no “try” to it. One either IS, or isn’t a follower of Christ. Not with head knowledge, but true, repentant heart knowledge. I hope she realizes she can’t earn her way to heaven by good works or thoughts, which many try to do today. Even Satan “believes”. He knows there’s a God, but he’s not a follower of Christ. However, I’m glad to see that she has a heart for the hurting, no matter where they are. She’s right about that. God loves it when we have a heart of love and sympathy for the poor and needy. Thank you for sharing this.
You are everything good about faith. 🤗
