can I call myself a Christian if I don't believe what my religion believes?
Fernie · F
@JovialPlutonian there are approximately 320,000,000 gods and 4,200 religions....pick one that suits your beliefs
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Fernie this was never a question of my beliefs but those that call themselves Christians
Fernie · F
@JovialPlutonian did you or did you not just say "can I call myself a Christian if I don't believe what my religion believes?" I'm saying...go find one that suits your personal beliefs more
@JovialPlutonian Christians are not the problem. Sin is the problem. Each of us are accountable for our own sins. It doesn’t matter what other people think. It only matters what God thinks. It would be advisable to look in God’s Word for the answers, and see what he has to say about the matter, yourself, then you’ll have the right answer. That’s the only approval you need. Does God have an issue with homosexuality? Define what your idea is, of a Christian. God sets the standards. Not us. God doesn’t step around our rules. A Christian, follows His. We don’t make our own rules, then claim to be a follower of His.
@JovialPlutonian The question should be, can you call yourself a Christian if you don’t believe what the Bible says?

@LadyGrace god has no rules
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@JovialPlutonian hence we have free will.
@JovialPlutonian He does. They’re called The Ten Commandments.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace that only thwarts the free will God has given you.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace it's more like the ten commitments
@JovialPlutonian From what? Living in sin the way people want to do? God forbid we follow commandments! That makes us responsible. 😱. It doesn’t thwart anything. I’ve yet to hear one Christian say that rules thwart them, in any way.. 😄
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace and they wouldn't because they can't accept the bibles word not as god'sbut as your churches interference to bend your beliefs to suit them. Hey have free will but I command you to do this or that, where did you get the idea that this is free will?
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace the bible? You have been played by your religion, it holds a secret about you that they wish you not to know about yourself that would empower you beyond the need of your churches and your priests.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace ask your priest when you go to church this Sunday; if god gave us free will why does god command us to do some things. You will hear some poor excuse to justice how this can be possible.
@JovialPlutonian it's like anything else in this world. You reap what you sow. Whether you are Christian or not. There are rules on both sides... in the real world, and in the spirit world....you wouldn't break either one without consequences.
@JovialPlutonian I am not Catholic, but any church you go to will tell you that just because you have free will, it does not give you a license to sin. You cannot bend man's rules or God's rules without consequences and it seems that you are trying to avoid rules altogether. We are supposed to be responsible individuals and that's why we have rules. When one is mature they don't mind rules .
@JovialPlutonian I’m not sure where you got the idea that Christians go by the churches rules and not God’s, but that is not true. We follow God’s Word, closely. From your answers, it sounds like you think Christians don’t, and can’t, have fun. A free world does not take enjoyment out of a persons life. We don’t follow Christ because we have to. We follow Him because we want to, out of love for what he did for us on the cross and does for us each day. Religion is not the same thing as being a follower of God. Here’s the difference:

Religions fail us every time. I follow no one but Christ, because my faith stems from him, not man. Christian just means follower of Christ, not some religion, which is as He meant it to be.

The determining factor of one's authentic faith relationship with God is not one's denomination, religious practice or performance in Christian disciplines, but rather the presence of the indwelling Spirit of Christ, upon confession of faith. As it is written, “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom.8:9) Jesus' invitation always stands open for anyone to receive forgiveness, be welcomed into his family, and live eternally in heaven.

@LadyGrace we definitely have very different beliefs about what is and what ever the case given the state of this planet there's clearly something going terribly wrong and it points at our beliefs.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace last thing I checked Christians are of the religion Christianity. I don't believe in sin. I just find Christianity very contradictory but then most religions contradict themselves anyway. It's no wonder ppl don't trust these organisations.
Well then if you don’t believe in sin, how can you ask about Christianity in your post? I don’t understand how you can’t believe in sin, when it’s all around us. That’s why we have murders and rapes and thieves, etc. You are not reading my posts because as I explained above, Christianity is not a religion. It is a personal commitment to Jesus. Religion is just man-made philosophy and religion did not die on the cross for our sins. @JovialPlutonian

@LadyGrace tbh this conversation isn't going anywhere, I can ask about what ever I wish, to me what you call sin is merely where humans have forgot themselves and is more a blessing. Nonetheless I care not to explain myself as this is proving to be pointless???
That was my exact thought when replying, too, but I will say that I wasn’t criticizing your question. Yes, is pointless. Let’s leave it at that. Thanks.@JovialPlutonian
