I Am Spiritual But Not Religious

I wrote this after an argument I had with my strictly Christian mother.

"If your religion would send me to Hell for loving all of God's creations, then how is Heaven any better than the overprotective and judgemental society that we live in now?"

Can the world just agree Hell isn't a thing from the bible and move on? It's mostly a Norse pagan belief mixed with a bunch of poetry

@Qwerty14 we could but that would take more time then we have. Even with concrete proof, there will always be those that will see things from different angles and perspectives
@Tripp93 Sure but we could at least stop the average Joe from believing it coz they see it on the Simpsons lol

@Qwerty14 'Hell' is mentioned in the bible enough times. Is this actually the word of Odin?

@Qwerty14 lol we have trouble stopping children from believing in santa claus. Trying to change the mindset of adults could prove even more challenging. I'm not saying that it can't be done, I'm saying that it would take a great deal of resolve to accomplish it 😊
@fazer1k Sure of you read a modern bible. Grab a bible that doesn't translate Sheol to "Hell" and you'll notice that this idea of a fiery afterlife never existed in Jewish culture. Nor does it exist in Greek or Roman culture. But there is a fiery place ruled by a horned god in Norse mythology. Funny that

@Qwerty14 Christians base their faith on bibles that are available today. Funny that. 😉

It's all a lie - one big translation error!
@fazer1k If you read an Orthodox bible you'll find a more accurate translation. There are some amazing mistranslations in modern bibles. But even older bibles fucked up. That's why Martin Luther created his own one

@Qwerty14 That's one for the translation experts I think. I imagine many experts must have agreed on the translation of modern bibles for them to be released that way - I'm not religious so I wouldn't know for sure. I've only ever read parts of modern bibles, though, to my knowledge.
@fazer1k There are some pretty good websites now that let you read chapters in different translations so you can get a better idea of what they really meant. But if you really wanna get the best accuracy look for an orthodox translation (either Jewish or Greek). They're the best
