Don't you just love religion? [Spirituality & Religion]

Interesting premise, but I believe that religion would exist even if everyone had exactly the same amount of stuff. Why? Because most people need and seek out some kind of ethical construct around which to order their lives. For some it's organized religion, or environmentalism, or various other tribalistic, ritualistic endeavors that give them purpose. It's not rocket science.
napoleon- what a great humanitarian😂

I once asked Napoleon if he needed money....he looked a little short

Duh, rates of religious practice have fallen about 5% over the last decade or so, from about 80% to 75%. Hardly precipitous.

Coming from a man whose ruthless ambition caused the death of thousands that is a bit rich!

It's quite ironic. But to me what's interesting is that someone who was actually in a higher position dared to say anything against the church. Usually the government is closely related to the church and vice versa. Usually leaders represent themselves as being religious or at least spiritual.

I think that it was Mark Twain who said, "If people behave so badly with religion, think how much worse they might behave without it."

religion is the most stupidest creation of humans from planet earth

*sigh*
i'd hedge a bet retirement is the new religion at least in 'Merica.
i see all my peers sacrificing and being the good 'citizens' now so when they retire they can be old bald corvette guy or gamble in vegas or prune in the FL sun. Suffer now for benefits later. Suffer now and your god will reward you later. It usually doesn't work out that way.

Sure religion works, but a proper government would be even better. See Sweden for example (my own country), if you're really poor, you'll still manage if you're a Swedish citizen because our tax system includes a lot of safety/security stuff incase you lose your job and such.

@Originalme
- the rates of americans practicing religion are falling through the floor.
what, possibly, could be the new religion that's keeping all the poor americans at bay...?
so , mr genius .. how would you prevent humans from having beliefs and thoughts - lobotomy?
