Why do chrisitians maintain that there is only one god when the bible makes it clear that there are many? [Spirituality & Religion]

If there is only one god, why do we have the worlds "El" and "Elohim"? One singular, one plural, both used by the god of the bible.
Why do we have god telling us to worship no OTHER gods before him? Why are there references to "we" to "I" ? Obviously there would be no competition between a fake god who couldn't do anything and real god who could grant miracles and punish the unfaithful.

There is only one Living God. There are many many non living gods.

@hippyjoe1955 yes all gods are imagined so it is alive as long as you are.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MasterLee No there is One Living God and He is the Source of all life. Just because you have no experience with Him does not change His existence.
Do you know about El and Elohim in the Bible? I don’t even know about these names@hippyjoe1955

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 They are different words for God. El means God and Elohim is its plural form. We Christians worship the Triune God so it only makes sense to use the plural form. BTW we Christians understand the Name of the Living God to be Yahweh (translation I AM).
You just have to experience it. If you have never experienced it then you don’t really know what it’s like. When one has that experience it is clear as bells. Very clear. @Celine

@Celine Just because you have never experienced it tells me all I need to know about you and your ideas.
Growing up in church those names were never mentioned....only Jesus.@hippyjoe1955

@Celine So I know something that you don't and you are going to brag about your ignorance. Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 wow. That was mature.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Then you went to the wrong Church. In the church I go to most adults know all about El and Elohim and Elyon and Shaddai and Yahweh.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MasterLee Right back at you.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 I am so impressed.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MasterLee As am I with you. Shall we form a mutual admiration society?

@Celine And your lack of experience and you boasting about it tells me you are ignorant.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 it will have to be one sided.
I wouldn’t say that....I probably wasn’t listening. I actually have heard of Yahweh and El Shaddai....but not Elohim and Elyon...@hippyjoe1955
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MasterLee Yeah I don't admire you at all.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 ya think?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Yes I have an advantage I took theological training and have always attended Bionically literate churches. The names and titles in the Old Testament are obscured in most English translations and the average Christian would not know that what they just read is actually a Name or Title of Yahweh.
