My first flirtation with paganism occurred when I was in high school. Three other boys from my cross country team and I purchased a rabbit from a pet store, and took it out into the desert (I lived in Arizona at the time.) In an arroyo, we erected an alter from the stones scattered about the base of the dry creek bed, and we bound the rabbit to the alter. Then, we stripped naked and circled the alter three times, calling on the gods of hunters, of travelers, and of victory to grant us speed and endurance during the next meet.

Then we used a knife to cut the rabbit's throat, and we poured the blood over our hands and chests, offering the rabbit's meat and spirit to the evoked deities. All at once, it was as if a frenzy had come over us, and we fell upon the corpse, and ate of it. I barely recall that time, as it felt almost like I was a different person, but when I came to I was bloody from the meal and almost painfully erect. The four of us disposed of the body and carefully disassembled the alter before rinsing the blood from our skin, dressing, and returning to civilization.

Our team won the next meet, incidentally, although I personally didn't do particularly well.

@SW-User Awesome! I haven't met anyone who worships any of the Aztec pantheon yet!

i think anyone who requires the sacrifice of innocents is no diety.

@ladycae Eh, say what you like, but the blood of the innocent is a powerful force: Just ask General Westmoreland!

Rabbit is a nice change. Satan must be pretty sick of goat steaks.

@Flenflyys I know right? Sadly, he'll have to go get his own - that rabbit was earmarked for others.
