Aside from the faith-based belief that there exists a soul, is there any good reason to suppose that a soul does in fact exist? [Spirituality & Religion]

no if anything there is one universal mind of which we all fractions of.
eternal souls could not simply multiply behind dumpsters on meth binges, otherwise we would be up to our asses in souls.

if souls were eternal, then either the afterlife would eventually overflow, or if reincarnation is a thing, we would have a consistent population with one being born for every death.

Schrodinger once said, "the total amount of minds in the universe is one"

@Celine because we are not simple information to be stuffed into a spiritual flash drive, stored for the rest of eternity after we die lol

unless of course we are recompressed into the singular mind of which we all originally derived that is ;)

@Celine because if we were simple information people would not cling desperately to the idea that who they are in this life should continue on, or would even be necessary in the grand scheme of nature to be allowed to exist past its due time.

we are social animals programmed with a directive, one which we deny more and more by the day.

@Celine because robots do not complain when they are shut off. i have not said that i believe in an afterlife, and i dont.

i believe that when we die there is nothing, but nothing is forever.

@Celine im not im just suggesting that nothing lasts forever, so how could a soul? and if they do exist, then how many are there? after all we are not the first generation to reproduce.

more and more souls, never decomposing? going nowhere? seems illogical and unnatural.

@Celine if it does not follow the same laws as everything else in the observable or otherwise detectable universe it cant naturally exist.

do vampires exist on some other planet far far away? of course not, because dead things dont get up and walk around. but some do revive themselves.. ;) like a certain frog, and a certain tree

@Celine quantum physical is more appropriate i imagine as subatomic particles do not conform to conventional laws of physics either, are you into that stuff?
