Anyone else find it baffling when people claim atheism is a religion? Atheism is NOT a religion. [Spirituality & Religion]

@Celine pretty sure anime lovers dont have a camp.. but religion is named after a collection of people with like minded views. so thats where people kind of draw the line where atheism takes on the religious aspect.

Because they meet like minded people. Having beliefs and having beliefs about god are different things.

Why the need to term it as a religion? It's a legitimate question.

@Celine theres gatherings. theres books on it. its much more than just a person not believing in any deities. people turned it from a concept to much more.

as well as you have atheists speakers. charles dawkings is one of the main ones.

@Celine doesnt take a deity to be called a religion.. budism is a religion and doesnt have a deity. reincarnation is a religion and doesnt have a deity. its a set of beliefs

its totally different than golf people gathering and talking about golf or comic people talking about comics. did you know that even that there is a religion based on the star wars "force" or even a religion based on the mother earth.. both dont have deities .

Atheism is lack of belief in God. It's simple to understand.

@Celine people do worship they worship people.. so many athiests have worshiped charles darwin, some even worship charles dawkins. it becomes much more than just not believing in a god you start putting faith in people. its more of a social thing. than not believing in anything.

I think your unwillingness to answer my intial question and her actual points, instead of twisting things and adopting the wrong definitions, is a consequence not of ignorance but of fear.

For some reason, you resist seeing things as they are. You need to mold a comfortable frame.

As for your question. They don't believe in god. It's silly to assume otherwise about atheists.

And if you mean Buddhists, they are not required to disbelieve.

@Miram Buddhism dont believe in gods they are gods. im not twisting anything all im saying if there are gathering, and speakers and books and beliefs than its more likely labeled a religion.

When Buddha was asked by his student if god exists, he didn't answer. When he was asked why silence? He said it is not for him to decide the answer for someone else.

You have twisted definitions and you continue to do so.

no from my understanding there are no christain buddhists. one cant be christian and buddhist. christianity is monotheist while buddism is non-theism. meaning none. they dont mesh at all.
