Is it exercising freedom of religion for a store owner to refuse service to gays? [Spirituality & Religion]

Like in that instance where a cake shop owner refused to sell a wedding cake to a gay couple on the basis that it was against his religion.

Is discrimination protected by religious freedom?

You're asking two different things. Are you more interested in suppressing religious rights, or inventing forms of discrimination to persecute people of faith?

@fancyboy There's a big difference between freedom of religion and "religious rights." Not even sure what that means.

@Celine He didn't discriminate. He offered to make them anything but a wedding cake. He didn't ask them to leave his store. He didn't tell them he was anti-gay. He offered to put Craig and Mullins in touch with bakers who would've made their cake. But they decided to persecute the baker anyway, since his decision was based in his faith. Even "Craig vs. Masterpiece Cakeshop" - which upheld the plaintiffs' initial victory - didn't use similar cases of as precedent, because Phillips' defense was his right to religious expression. So, a version of discrimination had to be created. This isn't about securing rights for gays; it's intended to further erode the rights of people of faith. Even the media covers the case from the viewpoint of how the baker has been affected, not how the couple's rights were upheld.

@Ynotisay If you're not sure what it means, how do you know if there's any difference? Are you so desperate to impress a liberal girl that you don't care how stupid you sound?

@fancyboy Impressing a liberal girl? Seriously? Kiss my ass bud.
And "Persecute the baker?" Ahh...I get it.
I'll tell you what little Fancyboy. Why don't you just run along and get ready for the War on Christmas. I know that's a favorite time of year for those who NEED to feel persecuted. So freaking weak.

@Ynotisay So, you can't answer my question?
Ynotisay · M
@fancyboy Are you just trolling me now dude? Yeah. I can answer your foolish question. There ARE no specific 'religious rights" outside of freedom of religion. How was that tiger? Now there are things like non-profit status provided to religious organizations so they can make boatloads of money without paying tax. One of the biggest cons going in this country. So maybe you can think of that the next time you need to wallow in your 'persecution.'
Go away now please. Not interested in buying what you're selling.

@Ynotisay You got those talking points down, pipsqueak! Better go take the temperature on the Franken story.......

@fancyboy Pipsqueak? Uh...you know we can see your previous posts, right? You must be one conflicted dude. I'll just block you. No interest.
