It's built on fear and control - a superior being would not want to told here it is wonderful all the time - what do we prove by allowing famines
For some reason I thought you were a Christian. Perhaps I made a mistake.
People are people christian or not. We all have bad thoughts, we all do things and say things we shouldn’t. Christians are not perfect people and I hate that people expect them to be. No one is perfect.
Just because someone tells you they are a Christian doesn’t necessarily mean that they are. Just because someone goes to a Christian church doesn’t make them a Christian.

Everyone struggles with their faith, but
be careful here because the Bible repeatedly tells us we are saved by God’s grace through faith and never by good works.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves. This is the gift from God...not by works... so that no one can boast.
I encourage you to read the New Testament.
Blessings to you.

There is nothing "less appealing" about worship, in any religion today.
Like neighborhoods ... it is important to locate a good worship fit.
I like dawn service ... that is just me.
Am I flawed ... let's hope so.
Do I have faith? ... yes
100% of the people I trust and view as "adding to the community" also exhibit faith.
All people are on a journey of faith ... it is not static.
Christianity preaches love, inclusion, direction, assurance ... these are good things.
As to appeal ... the door to faith is always open ... it is a 24x7 operation.

True enough but ultimately people have to choose for themselves regardless of what others are doing/not doing
LucyCan · 26-30, F
It's been well noted that westernized Christianity (especially American) tends to omit the reading of biblical passages found unappealing: especially if dealing with the acquisition of wealth.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
I mean, that never looks good but...
Adopting a worldview like that involves making decisions about the fundamental aspects of existence and the universe. It seems like the more mundane aspects of a religion like church organization and membership are secondary. You either believe all of that stuff or you don't.

I agree
Christianity has far from cornered the market on hypocrisy. What's odd is the one truly tolerant and altruistic religion seems to receive the most hate from the faithless and those who's religions are actually political ideologies.
ChiRho · 31-35, M
Hypocrites come from all walks of life, regardless of beliefs or morals.
All the lies, cover ups, you have someone that says they are religious posing with a semi automatic weapon, WTF. (Ted Cruz)
Did he commit suicide? Do they know why he did it?@Pitchblue
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 There was a man who chased him and shot him but I believe he shot himself.
People are going off the deep end....it’s sad.@Pitchblue

Why hypocrites?
Graylight · 51-55, F
Hypocrites or humans striving to live better life despite the failures that are inevitable? It's all about perspective.
bijouxbroussard · F
@Graylight I have no quarrel with those who use religion as a “crutch”, if you will. That’s their right and their business. It’s the ones who use it as a club against others. 😒
Graylight · 51-55, F
@bijouxbroussard That distinction I completely understand. Have your beliefs, share them if you feel so compelled, but don't sentence me according to your ideology or try to force change on me. In that sense, I totally agree.
bijouxbroussard · F
Possibly. The unkind ones do tend to stand out.
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
True, though there are hypocrites of all faiths.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TeresaRudolph71 What makes Christians hypocrites?
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
@SimplyTracie What makes anyone a hypocrite? It's easier to preach something than to practice it. Christians aren't any more likely than anyone else to be hypocrites. But I do think that Christianity is one of the hardest religions to practice, as it demands so much of us. So I suppose the more difficult something is that you're preaching, the more likely it is that you will fall short and fail to live up to it yourself. Does that make sense?

What makes Christians hypocrites?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TeresaRudolph71 I’m glad you believe that way. I think it’s correct
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
@SimplyTracie Yes. I know some very good people who are not Christians, and who don't even believe in God.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TeresaRudolph71 Me Too 😊
I know God loves then regardless.

There are hypocrites everywhere, not only Christians.
nonsensiclesnail · F
True. I prefer my hypocrites to be agnostic.
Spinner · 61-69, M
Hypocrites are in all areas of religion.
