If a fairy dies everytime someone says that they do not believe in fairies does being agnostic about them kill fairies also? [Spirituality & Religion]

it means they're not sure if they're dead or not

hi lorne13
sounds horrible. Poor fairies. Agnostics should think before they sit on the fence plainly! It is neither one thing nor the other and who is caught in the middle? Yes the poor fairies.

@sogdianrock Why so black and white? Life is full of ambiguity, uncertainty, ambivalence. Long live shades of grey

I am unconvinced agnosticism is a position at all. So in the case of fairies - which I believe in of course - what sort of position is it to say they may exist but you are unsure!
Consider the case of the Cottingley fairies from 1917 in which photographs of fairies which the girls admitted to have created themselves fooling people who believed the camera does not lie. Fair enough simple fraud but one of the girls said that there are real fairies in the last photograph but they did not put them there. That is exactly what a fairy would do! They are sprites!

“Look at [Frances’] face. Look at [Elsie’s] face. There is an extraordinary thing called Truth which has 10 million faces and forms—it is God’s currency and the cleverest coiner or forger can’t imitate it.”

@sogdianrock I loved those photographs and the whole storyline! There's always the possibility of doubt. Nothing is 100% sure

Fairies have a long and established presence in The World. Indeed a World without fairies would be a bank. Who wants to live in a bank!

@sogdianrock Exactly! When it comes to faeries I'm a true believer! No sitting on the fence for me! ;)

Well quite so. There is a further problem with religious agnosticism Personally I believe in all The Gods! This is considered radical Theism by some but how can mere mortals decide between The Gods. Vulcan for example! Great war god! Lots of war still Ipso Facto Vulcan is real and alive.

@sogdianrock Oh I'm with you on that one! Too black and white, limited, to focus only on one God, the Christian one

hi Literaturegirl
Well there is no grey in my position. No God shall go unrecognised in my pantheon of Gods! My favourite is Freya of course!

@sogdianrock Away from the Gods in ordinary life there is plenty of grey... Why Freya?

A pagan völva was buried c. 1000 with considerable splendour in Hagebyhöga in Östergötland. In addition to being buried with her wand, she had received great riches which included horses, a wagon and an Arabian bronze pitcher. There was also a silver pendant, which represents a woman with a broad necklace around her neck. This kind of necklace was only worn by the most prominent women during the Iron Age and some have interpreted it as Freyja's necklace Brísingamen. The pendant may represent Freyja herself.[10]
