“Every Beat of My Heart” – Gladys Knight & the Pips

[media=https://youtu.be/7iPycbLYpzc]
“Every Beat of My Heart” is a doo-wop flavored ballad recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips in 1961.

The song was written by Johnny Otis and first recorded by the Royals (later known as Hank Ballard & the Midnighters) in 1952. I don’t know how successful their version was, but the one by Gladys Knight & the Pips was a big success, reaching #1 on the US R&B chart and #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was the group’s first hit single.

Also, Gladys Knight was born in Atlanta 80 years ago today. Happy birthday to Ms. Knight.

Oh man. That got me right in the heart. That's the most beautiful beautiful song. I had forgotten about it. Wow I sure appreciate you sharing that again.

@LadyGrace It is a lovely song, and the group does perform it beautifully.

Unfortunately, I think this early gem by the Pips is mostly forgotten now. I'm very happy to share it here and hope others will listen to it as well.
@Rutterman They sure do. They made so many lovely songs like that back then.
