Catchy, up-tempo song recorded by the British R&B and soul music singer, Maxine Nightingale.

In the US, Nightingale is best-known for her hit singles, ”Right Back Where We Started From” (1975) and “Lead Me On” (1979). “Love Hit Me” was a hit in the singer’s native UK in 1977, but it either wasn’t released as a single in the US or it failed to chart there for some reason.

Also, Maxine Nightingale turns 70 years old today. Happy birthday to Ms. Nightingale.

Ms Nightingale has such a vibrant voice that her energy on stage is infectious…. I wonder how old she was in this video.

@Vivaci She really does. It's why I wanted to post a video of her singing the song. Watching her perform really adds a lot to it.

If this was 1977, she would have been 24 or 25 at the time.

Interestingly, she got better looking as she got older. Looked fantastic and way younger than her age in a 2016 video I saw of her on YouTube.

Wonder if Nightingale was her real last name or she was called that…like Ms Lata Mangeshkar is called the nightingale of India.

It is her real last name. Her dad was Benny Nightingale, a Guyanese-born comedian.
