"Never Be the Same" was the third hit single by singer-songwriter Christopher Cross.
It reached #1 on the US Adult Contemporary Chart and #15 on the [i]Billboard[/i] Hot 100 in 1980.
The song was one of several hits released from Cross's self-titled debut album, [i]Christopher Cross[/i], which won the performer 5 Grammy Awards.
Cross had a few other successful recordings after "Never Be the Same", but his brand of adult contemporary music declined in popularity in the mid-1980s. Although he hasn't regained the mass following he once had, Cross has continued to tour and record albums--some of them critically acclaimed.
But the tours and recordings were halted in 2020 when Cross was diagnosed with COVID-19. He spent 10 days in the ICU and was subsequently diagnosed with Guillain鈥揃arr茅 syndrome, which his doctors believe was triggered by the coronavirus. It severely impacted his ability to walk and has had other debilitating effects as well.
Cross continues to recover and his condition is much improved now. He is looking forward to touring again.
