Remember back in the day

You could actually call the radio station and dedicate a song or just have them play it.. Nowadays it's all about the money .

good times, remember when we used to request songs and they’d play them within an hour and mention our names or the person they were dedicated to. I think late 90’s is the last time we did it.

I think you can sometimes do that with the '50s golden oldies on SiriusXM, but of course they are very much about money, too.

Lots of times, the DJs do "voice tracking"; in other words, there is no live DJ, just a playlist of pre-recorded song intros and outros, etc. done by the on-air talent. Notice how they don't say the time, things like that. Djs can do it all from their house and never even set foot in the studio. So, no opportunity to do anything local.
