Walk Off The Earth - Somebody That I Used to Know (originally Gotye f/ Kimbra)

[Verse 1: Marshall]
Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

[Verse 2: Marshall]
You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

[Chorus: Gianni]
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough

No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

[Verse 3: Sarah]
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
And I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

[Chorus: Gianni]
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough

No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

[Outro: Gianni & Group
Somebody
I used to know
Now you're just somebody
That I used to know
Somebody
I used to know
Now you're just somebody
That I used to know
I used to know
That I used to know
I used to know
Somebody

The viral video by Walk off the Earth was recorded by crowding all five band members around one Epiphone acoustic guitar in Gianni Luminati's kitchen. The band chose this format simply because they only had one guitar available at the house that day and wanted everyone to be included in the video.
Filming the video was an exhausting process that took 14 hours and 26 to 50 takes to get a single, mistake-free performance where every musician nailed their role perfectly.
Who Did What on the Guitar? To make one guitar sound like a full production, each member was responsible for a specific musical "Joel Cassady (Far Left): Plucked the bass lines on the thickest strings and tapped the body of the guitar to create a drum beat.Sarah Blackwood (Second from Left): Played basic rhythm parts and sang the main female vocals.Gianni Luminati (Center): Strummed the main chords in the middle of the guitar while handling lead vocals.Ryan Marshall (Second from Right): Plucked chords and added backing harmonies.Mike "Beard Guy" Taylor (Far Right): Sat at the very top of the fretboard to play the iconic, high-pitched xylophone riff by plucking individual strings near the tuning pegs. You can see their perfect synchronization and how they divided up the instrument in the original While the performance looks effortlessly smooth, the reality behind the scenes required extreme precision: No Room for Error: Because they recorded it as a single continuous shot, if just one person plucked the wrong string or missed a vocal cue 3 minutes into the song, they had to throw away the whole take and start over from the beginning. Studio vs. Live Video: The audio you hear in the viral video was carefully mixed and polished in a studio setting beforehand. The band then performed the exact choreography live in the kitchen for the camera to ensure the visual matched the perfect studio audio. Replicating it Live: Despite the studio magic used for the video mix, Walk off the Earth proved the feat wasn't just a camera trick. They frequently performed the exact "five people, one guitar" routine Live on Tour in front of roaring concert audiences.

@SleepingWithGhosts Music is one of the more powerful things in my life and it can allow me to escape my reality even if only for a moment. It motivates me when I’m feeling lost and depressed. It helps me push through physical and emotional pain and I love it when I’m working out.

@GoldnJulz Same here. Except for my kids and my cat, I'm basically alone. When I'm listening to music though, I'm never alone.
