I can’t listen to that song and not think about the breakfast club.

@RunTheJulz Don’t forget great fashion, colors and girls with big hair. In the 80’s we wondered what the future would be like. Now in 2024 we want to go back to the 80’s.

@MrBrownstone I have been teased about the fact that the female lead in Valley Girls has the same name as me and I have been with friends who have no shame about yelling cheesy cringy lines from that film and many others like Fast Times At Ridgemont High etc.
Have you ever seen the movie Foxes that’s a little bit darker than the other two but it’s also based in the Valley in Southern California. I recommend it if you haven’t seen it. Jodie Foster is the most recognizable person in it.
My younger sister and I had so many typical 80s toys and accessories and we had a pretty strict mom when it came to “cheap plastic crap” but we still have a box of stuff like slap bracelets and Garbage Pale Kids cards. We weren’t supposed to have processed sugar because our mom had read about studies at places like Stanford where they were linking high fructose corn syrup to cancer in the mid eighties and I vividly remember one trip to the car wash with our dad and he let us get one item of candy and my chose nerds and in the 7-8 minute drive home my sister ate every last one and then puked as soon as we got out of the car and were walking into the house through the garage. I don’t remember what candy I chose but once my mom figured out that my sister spewed pink and purple puke I had to give up my candy ☹😣
We were so lucky to have her dietary knowledge and restrictions but geez it was a bummer at times. She would allow us to get a box of sugary cereal for our birthdays and Halloween and Christmas weren’t too bad. She’s an amazing cook and makes everything from scratch so we’ve teased her (dad included) that the world already has a Martha Stewart and we don’t need another. Lol.

@RunTheJulz Never heard of Foxes. Never seen valley girls. I do quote movie lines and scenes at random.
I don’t remember any food restrictions growing up. Pay attention to it now.
We are last generation to know life without smart phones/social media. Kinda scary.
