I Wtk What Song Brings Back a Special Memory For You
It was homecoming weekend. It was the first time I was to see her since I had dropped her off on the first day of classes. On Saturday night we went to dinner, and when you're 21 and 24 years old, respectively, you do stupid things like buy a fifth of Southern Comfort and drink it straight from the bottle.
There was a cover band on campus that night, and they played this song. It was a small college, and the dean knew almost every student, including (although I didn't know it at the time) my future wife. When the dean walked by, I was chugging the last of a can of Bud. "Having a nice time?" he asked, but all I could hear was the music. Every time I hear this song I think of that night. It was October. It was warm. And to this day, I get nauseous at even the thought of Southern Comfort. And we're divorced. And I have never been happier.
