Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead (1995)

I find myself listening to “Fake Plastic Trees” over and over within the past months… then days.

I love reading between the lines and how lyrics tells the story of the woman and the man, and how song then focuses on the narrator — the climax of it shows some sort of plot twist and verses like breadcrumbs.

But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
And if I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted
All the time
All the time

I love the whole band but I find myself “falling” more for Thom Yorke — his lyrical brilliance and soothing voice. He is even my wallpaper 🥹😆🤣🫠

The Bends is one of the greatest albums of all time, in my opinion. This is such a sad song, but of course I love it.

@HowtoDestroyAngels at some point, yes - it is sad.
At some aspects, I see it as a reminder of how tiring living in this world had become — where most people try to look and compare themselves with inauthentic things, experiences, etc just to “achieve” a goal that doesn’t even fit them.
It’s kind of a wake up call to be at my own phase to find peace despite this plastic-y world. And not follow what the man at the end of the lyrics did.

@stayfickle Very introspective. I like your way of looking at that.
