You know the song "Silver Thread and Golden Needles?"

Is it just me or does that seem quite backward? Not the story of the song itself, which is quite authentic. The making of thread out of silver and needles out of gold. Of the two, silver is hard and resilient, gold is soft and pliable. It should have been golden thread and silver needles. Or am I just overthinking it?
