I miss mixed tapes. I miss online forums that talk of music. Pop music has made music into a commodity. Social media has made us all think we have a voice (we do), making nonsense of personal lives, when simply some can express it better.....and why not give to those writers who can just spell it out better? Why did novelists become novelists? Why did poets become poets? Surely not all of us need to be published. 🤔
@thewindupbirdchronicles Me too.. now I only get to make playlists and they are not as easily shared. We do have an overwhelming amount of information/ entertainment to shuffle through to find the good bts. Gets ver tiring. But, I feel it provides a platform and a voice to things that would normally be discarded which can often be a shame. There are gems that would never have been seen without the internet making them shine.

@thewindupbirdchronicles I used to read Maximum Rock n Roll. A black and white punk rock Magazine from the 1990s. This one dude did an article on punks in the military. I was in the Air Force at the time. He sent me a mixtape and had all kinds of cool bands on it. Blaggers ITA. Voodoo Glow Skulls. The Queers. Johnny Cash. I'm sure I still have that old mixtape in all my old USAF letters.

WE Post our favorite songs so we can be smug and impress people with our knowledge of different genres of music nobody else gives a fuck about. Now let be smug and impress you..

That was "Pretend It's Over" by King of Fools. I found the CD in The Bargain Bin at Sound Exchange. Sound Exchange was a used record tape and CD store I used to shop at when I lived in Tampa. They sold all kinds of new and used records tapes and cds. King of Fools sounds a little bit like Whitesnake but they're not oozing with masculine sexuality like whitesnake. I think they're British. They're one of those bands that never got any kind of air play. They formed and split up. I think they split up. It would be cool if they stayed together and they're touring the northeast. I could dig seeing somebody like them in concert.

I'm posting this while I sip a glass of single malt scotch with a smug look on my face. I'm sure you're impressed.

@nonsensiclesnail Here’s tips on increasing your smug:
1. Drive a hybrid or electric car.
2. Talk about NPR or PBS News Hour.
3. When entertaining guests keep a six pack of Kronenbourg 1664 in the fridge. Bottles, of course. Offer one of your friends the beer. Smugly inform them, "It's a German recipe brewed in France." (But don't tell them the sad truth: 1664 is shit beer brewed in France.)
4. Own at least two pieces of Patagonia clothing. (Or one piece of Fjallraven outerwear.)
5. Bang & Olufsen speakers.
6. Play Ommadawn (or any other album) by Mike Oldfield.
7. Discuss cricket, rugby, soccer (refer to it as football), or any other sport not popular in the US.
8. Display art by Jackson Pollack, Salvador Dali, or Andy Warhol.
9. Shop at Whole Foods.
10. Discuss liberal politicians, regardless of whether you agree with them or not.

Update:
11. Follow that British soap opera EastEnders.
@Prisoner1972 To the level of which you are dead on right is just brilliant!

@nonsensiclesnailI agree with you. Now if you excuse me while I savor the complex fragrances of one of my finely crafted Montecristos I had imported this morning as my heart smugly ponders the lines of the poetry of Robert Bly.

I like just posting songs that I’m listening to or that jump into my mind for some reason. Thanks for sharing this. It’s been awhile since hearing this song.
Canuckle · 51-55, M
@nonsensiclesnail it’s been my favourite song since 2013 on EP when someone posted a song link to an Ari Koivunen song.
@Canuckle In truth, I have a very difficult tine finding favorites of anything. There is soooo much amazing music that it blows me away. But I do have favorites, sort of, for a moment.

@nonsensiclesnail I have created a playlist of all the songs I like that I come across on here and from my years subscribing to the monthly Columbia House. It is fun to listen to the songs amassed, but there are a few that have deeper meaning due to life changes. The above was one of them and there’s about a handful of others. But I do agree with your statement as to the volume of music to appreciate…it is near endless.

I like it - I only knew mmmm

I know what you mean. Lately I've been looking at the Music forum posts - not sure if all the subgroups are there - nor do I know what they are - but I think organized by Genre would be good too....
@fun4us2b I like MmmMmmm more, but this one just makes me happy. I think early 90s pop is still pretty vague but it fits.

@nonsensiclesnail agreed, an easy upbeat song with a goofy video.

Posting songs can be priceless. I like the harmonica part in your song here ....:)
@SW-User me as well.
I often find new groups that weren’t familiar to me because people post music they like. So I appreciate music posts.
@bijouxbroussard true! I do this as well.
popmol · 22-25, M
