I Hate Women Who Abuse Men And Children

I had to attend a women's refuge earlier this week. A fight had broken out among the residents and one had been quite seriously hurt and needed transport to hospital. It seems fights there are not unusual.

In my job I often have to attend victims of violence and go into potentially volatile situations. Friday and Saturday night drunks can be a bit of a handful but I've never felt so threatened before. The women I saw were some of the most aggressive people I've ever had the misfortune to encounter.

I felt sorry for the young children there. It was obvious they were terrified.

What is a "women's refuge"? And what were you doing there?

I used to work in a detention center for criminal teens. Later, at my last job, I worked with people in a forensics section (prison part) of a state mental hospital. I do know how violent some women can be.

Also, if you've read my Featured story, you know that my very angry and domineering mother put my father in the emergency hospital twice during their very ill fated marriage.

@greenmountaingal It's supposedly a place where women can go to escape domestic violence. I'm a paramedic and was called to attend a casualty of a fight that had broken out there. I was told it had started as an argument over drugs, one resident had accused another of stealing her supplies.

Erin Pizzey, the woman who opened the first refuge in Chiswick, has said that some of the women who went there were more violent than the men they claimed they were escaping from.

Sounds like the problem is about filtering out drug addicts. That is not a good situation for those kids for sure. Or for the women trying to live peacefully. Glad you were there to help.

@greenmountaingal The problem is deeper than that. No doubt there are some addicts there but they're not the only problem.

Some of the women are probably abusers whose victims finally defended themselves. They run to the refuge to gain sympathy, making out they are the victims. All the independent studies into domestic abuse have found that female on male abuse is at least as prevalent as male on female.

I was glad to get out of the place. The police were also in attendance but I still didn't feel safe being there.

I find in many cases, but not all cases, that a man can anger, but a woman can get mean. When she does, hell breaks!
